A daily word-transformation puzzle

Diff is a daily word-transformation game made by Cromulent Consulting. We collect the minimum data needed to run the game and respect your privacy. We do not sell your data, and we do not track you across other apps or websites.

What we collect

Anonymous play

You can play Diff without an account. When you do, we store a signed, anonymous identifier in a cookie so we can remember your puzzle attempts and progress on the device you’re using. This identifier is not linked to a real-world identity.

When you create an account

If you sign up, we collect your email address so we can sign you in (passwordless magic link) and, if you choose, deliver the daily puzzle by email. We also store your time zone so we can schedule that delivery. You can optionally provide your name; it’s used to personalize the app and is never required.

Game data

We store your puzzle attempts, scores, and solve times so we can show your history, compute leaderboards, and improve the game. While you are anonymous this data is tied only to the cookie identifier; if you sign in, your prior anonymous attempts are migrated to your account.

Diagnostics

We collect basic crash and performance data to keep the app working. This information is not used to identify you and is not used for advertising.

What we don’t collect

We don’t collect your phone number or address.
We don’t collect your location.
We don’t collect contacts, photos, health, or financial data.
We don’t use advertising identifiers (IDFA) or ad-tracking SDKs.
We don’t track you across other companies’ apps or websites.

How we use what we collect

To run the game (showing puzzles, scoring attempts, saving history).
To sign you in via email when you choose to create an account.
To deliver the daily puzzle by email if you opt in.
To diagnose crashes and improve performance.

Email

Daily-puzzle emails include a one-click unsubscribe link. You can also stop delivery any time from your profile.

Children

Diff is rated for all ages. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13.

Your choices

Play anonymously — no account required.
Delete your account by emailing us at the address below; we’ll remove your account and the game data tied to it.
Clear browser/app storage to remove the anonymous cookie identifier.

Changes
